Nine years ago our young family went through the most trying time of our lives together, when my husband was hospitalized and went through surgery multiple times within a year.
Although it was an uncommonly exacting and difficult time, my husband and I rapidly learned that God was lovingly and graciously teaching us countless life-lessons. When we look back at that year, we view it as one of the most precious seasons of our lives together.
One day during my devotions, the Holy Spirit reminded me of three groups of people. Those who fail to trust the words of God (and the heartbreaking results of their disbelief), those who believe the words of God (and how they are blessed as a result of trusting in God’s promises), and those who take action, and are used in mighty ways by God, to confirm His word.
I then printed these verses (just like I’ve posted them below), and they’ve been hanging on my fridge as a reminder ever since:
Remember Moses and Aaron!
And the Lord said to Moses and Aaron, Because you did not believe in (rely on, cling to) Me to sanctify Me in the eyes of the Israelites, you therefore you shall not bring this congregation into the land which I have given them. Numbers 20:12
Believe like Mary!
Blessed is she who has believed that the Lord would fulfill his promises to her! Luke 1:45
Go out like the disciples!
Then the disciples went out and preached everywhere, and the Lord worked with them and confirmed His word by the signs that accompanied it. Mark 16:20
Tonight I pray that you would be encouraged as you remember to rely on God, to believe in His promises, and that God will work in and through you to accomplish His purposes. You are dearly loved, and you have been chosen by Him!
